Great Poetry for Children by Jody Weissler
by Jody Weissler
Could a diving board even go up that high?
The steps to the top went straight to the sky.
I laughed, I cried, and then I said goodbye.
A jump from up here might make me die!
The board started to wobble and started to shake.
My nervousness was so real and not at all fake.
But then I looked down and what did I see?
People splashing and playing so playfully!
My fear subsided and it was time to jump from the top.
The worst that could happen would be a large belly flop.
I jumped real high and got in the right place.
My dive was so smooth, a smile on my face.
And then I landed so smooth and serene.
The best dive that my friends have ever seen.
