How Poetry Parade Works Please read this page to both understand why poetry parade works and also how to use the program effectively. There are only a few steps required to make sure that Poetry Parade works for you. 1. Download the Poetry Parade Program. 2. Introduce one Poem Each Week on Monday. 3. Include the Poem and the questions as part of the Week’s HW. (sending it home through e-mail and/or a weekly HW Packet) 4. After the Teacher Read on monday have a whole class read for day one. (Monday) 5. On Tuesday through Friday have students independently read with teacher support as well as the class read chorally. 6. Review the Poetry Questions with them each week, but encourage the writing of the answers to be done at home. Why? Because you want to make sure that the poetry practice and repittions happens at home and school. 7. Culminate the weeks Poem on Friday. 8. Start a new poem on Monday the following week and save a copy of the previous poems in an area of the class where students could eventually have an anthology of poems that they could read with mastery.
